First Sips – The Bones Beneath My Skin

Welcome to the first book for The Last Page Tavern. As I was making this blog I was getting a little nervous on what would the first book that I talk about would be. As I was setting up the blog I made a new Net Galley account because I lost the old one and I set out looking for new books that are coming out. A few days ago I finished Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune and I wept my way through that beautiful book. Because that story is so fresh in my mind I search TJ Klune and saw that The Bones Beneath My Skin was available to request to read. Of course I jumped at the chance to get my hands on this book thinking it would be a long shot to get an ARC (advanced reader copy) because I am a nobody with no social media following. Well to my surprise I got accepted and I was able to get a copy of the book loaded onto my Kobo Libra Colour.

Okay so onto what is First Sips. This is where I want to write about the book before I even read the first page, aka the first sip of a book, and just put my thoughts down on what I think the book is going to be like or really any thoughts I have.

I love TJ Klune and I love the worlds that he creates on the page. This book description has a father, 10-year-old girl (unlike any other), and Nate, a man down on his luck, brought together to fight against forces that wish to control, Artemis, the little girl. There seems to be a discussion about the past and fighting for a better tomorrow which I think already seems pointed in the world that we are currently living in. I think this book may be a subtle nod to government and their believed right to whomever and however they want to treat people. Especially with a tag that states its for fans that like Stranger Things.

TJ Klune always has a special place in my heart and because of that I have quite high hopes for this.
